Scullen Hybrid / Remote Communication

Reported by on 1/10/21

Dear Scullen Family

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a restful winter break! We have merged again into the routines of the 2020-21 school year, planning for the transition to hybrid and are also beginning the more typical tasks of January which include starting preparations for the next school year.

As you are aware, we are in the process of preparing the Hybrid model, which is a blend of in-person and remote learning. There will be several communications coming from Scullen in the next week about this transition so please review them in their entirety. We will begin the gradual hybrid transition of students and grade levels into the building on January 19. Please note that this plan will be dependent upon our ability to meet the metrics necessary for a safe return.

Week of January 19: Students and small groups needing intervention (invitation only)

Week of January 25: All 6th Grade students registered for Hybrid Learning will begin

Week of February 1: All students registered for Hybrid Learning will be in attendance (grades 6,7 and 8)

Students that are registered for Remote Only will remain remote and follow our Hybrid learning schedule beginning January 25.

As a reminder, students that are registered for in-person learning will be split alphabetically into two groups.

Group A: Students with last names A-L

Group B: Students with last names M-Z

Your child’s group (A or B) is noted in ParentVUE. Please note that your decision for Hybrid or Remote learning options was first determined in October and the option to make changes was available in December. The option to make changes closed on December 16th and changes to your choice will not be accepted at this time.

For students who are remaining, full remote, we look forward to continuing the level of education that you have received thus far. Our teachers are ready for the challenge of having both students present and remote. We have been working in utilizing new tools in the classroom to be able to support all students.

Additional information will be coming in the weeks ahead as we prepare for our transition to in-person. Please visit the links below for more information regarding our District’s return to school information.
