Clarification on the Middle School Schedule

Reported by jennifer_albert@ipsd.org on 10/7/20

Dear Scullen Families

I am very excited that we will be welcoming students back into our building in November! Scullen Middle School is definitely not the same without kids. However, I can certainly understand that some folks are not ready to make this transition for a variety of reasons. Therefore, the district is offering two options: (1) Students may remain fully remote or (2) students may return to a hybrid model. Below is brief explanation of each option:

Hybrid Learners

Students who choose to return to school will be split alphabetically and will attend school on A and B days. The alpha split will be determined when we know the number of students returning.
"A" students will attend school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:00-12:59 while "B" students are at home zooming into the classroom. All students will eat lunch at home.
"B" students will attend school on Thursdays and Fridays from 8:00-12:59 while "A" students are at home zooming into the classroom. All students will eat lunch at home.
All students will learn remotely on Mondays. The Monday schedule remains the same.
Full Remote Learners

Students who choose to continuing learning from home full time will follow the same schedule as our hybrid students.
Remote students will zoom into the classroom Tuesday through Friday 8:00 - 12:59.
All students will learn remotely on Mondays. The Monday schedule remains the same.
The district will be sending information to families this week with instructions on how to make your selection. The deadline for selecting your option is by Noon on Monday, October 12, 2020. Families who do not choose an option by the deadline will automatically be enrolled in the remote learning option. Once a student is enrolled as a remote learner, there will not be an option to switch to hybrid.

Sincerely,

Scott Loughrige
